Saponified Soap vs. Beauty Bar Soap
What makes saponified soap different than beauty bar soap?
Finding the right soap to help nurture and protect your skin is extremely important, and there are a plethora of options to keep in mind. With that being said, some of the top options when it comes to quality soap are either saponified soaps or beauty bar soaps. This brings the question, what makes them different, and which one should you choose?
The raw materials used for beauty bar soaps can vary based on the manufacturers. But some of the most common ones are soda lye, fats, and oils, also sodium carbonate, and some perfumes. The beauty bar soap usually has a combination of palm kernel oil that’s mixed with tallow, and water is used as a solvent for dissolving the oxidizer.
Making saponified soap is better since it doesn’t involve as many chemicals or unwanted compounds. You choose a recipe and a fragrance, gather your tools (a heat-safe container, silicone molds, hand mixer, old pot, stainless steel wire whisk) and melt the base. Mix the fragrance and fill in the mold, then you will have great saponified soap.
The skin health and benefits of using saponified soaps
Your skin is the largest organ of the body and whatever you put on your skin goes straight to the bloodstream. Using saponified soaps is gentle and will protect your skin from any chemicals that can potentially cause skin damage and other health issues.
Additionally, saponified soap is great for anyone that has sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, any other soap can leave your skin dry, red, or prone to inflammation. Thanks to saponified soap, you get to prevent that. This type of soap is also biodegradable, and it’s vegan-friendly too.
The problem with other soaps like Dove
One of the problems with beauty bar soap from companies like Dove is that it can end up removing moisture from your skin. It’s also possible that frequent use can end up changing the skin pH, thus leading to acid mantle damage. The acid mantle is what protects your skin from damage, so it can be quite the issue in the long run. And yes, like many other soaps, it can strip oils off your skin. That’s why saponified soap is much better since it uses only natural compounds.
The difference in ingredients
Dove beauty bar soap has ingredients like Titanium Dioxide, lauric Acid, Stearic Acid, Sodium Oleate, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Sodium Chloride, and many other chemicals that can have a negative impact when they reach your skin. On the other hand, saponified soap only has natural ingredients. For example, the Angelica Organic Handmade Soap which is a saponified soap has ingredients like Palm Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Orris Root, Castor Oil, and others similar to them.
As you can see, beauty bar soap is filled with chemicals and can have a negative impact when it comes to your skin’s health. That’s why it’s highly recommended to choose saponified soap because it’s healthier and skin-friendly. It’s a very good idea to start using saponified soap, especially if you want to protect your skin.
