What is Earthing/Grounding

Grounding or earthing refers to direct skin contact with the surface of the Earth with bare feet, hands, or with various grounding systems. Connecting the body to the Earth enables free electrons from the Earth’s surface to spread over and into the body, where they can have antioxidant effects. The Earth is like a gigantic battery that contains a natural, subtle electrical charge—a special kind of energy present in the ground.

Their are numerous reports that show walking barefoot on the Earth enhances health, provides feelings of well-being, and can be found in the literature and practices of diverse cultures from around the world. When you are grounded, your circulation improves, aiding in the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues in your body, including better blood flow to your face. Multi-disciplinary research has revealed that electrically conductive contact of the human body with the surface of the Earth (grounding or earthing) produces intriguing effects on physiology and health. Such effects relate to inflammation, immune responses, wound healing, and prevention and treatment of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

How do you incorporate healing energy into your daily routine? Go barefoot for a minimum of a half-hour outside and see what a difference that makes on your pain or stress level. Sit, stand, or walk on soil, grass, or sand. For many people, there isn’t time in their current busy schedule to go barefoot. There are also indoor options such as bed pads, floor and chair mats, chairs, and body bands.
